The program for the 74th Annual Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries (AWCI) Australia and New Zealand Conference will run over four days, from 6 to 9 October 2019. Just some of the exciting activities planned for the premier industry conference are outlined below.

Welcome Function

The first day of the conference will include pre-conference activities and tours. These activities will be topped off with the Welcome Function, which includes night canapés and drinks at the Field of Lights. This is a fantastic chance to meet your fellow delegates and do some networking.

Presentations, Panels, Roundtables and Keynote Speeches

The highlight of the conference program is the smorgasbord of technical events on offer. These events include sponsor presentations and an official welcome. Keynote speakers will give highly engaging and informative presentations, while the Contractor Roundtables and Industry Talk Back Panel will provide delegates with further opportunities for networking and knowledge-sharing.

Trade Exhibition

The trade exhibition gives delegates and companies the chance to demonstrate their products and techniques, and will run across all four days of the conference.

Apprentice Challenge

Apprentice Challenges will run every day. The Apprentice Challenge has been a long-standing activity of the Conference and an integral part of AWCI’s commitment to training and the future of the trade. The best apprentices from each Australian State and New Zealand compete in this annual challenge testing many competencies. Drop in and watch the teams complete this year’s three-day construction.

Social Events

We also leave plenty of time in the schedule for socialising. The Partners Program will include a Segway tour around the base of Uluru and a lunch and there will be a Wednesday morning wellness discussion. This follows on from the incredible reception to the launch of the women’s networking session, now named the AWCI BaSE: Business and Social Exchange, the initiative has continued to grow in 2019. Partners will have many valuable takeaways and new connections made from the program in Uluru.

Monday night will be Outback Adventure night. It will be held at the Camel Farm where camel rides will be available and every can gather around the bonfires for a night of entertainment. There will be an optional sunrise trip to Uluru in the morning, before breakfast at Sails in the Desert.

Optional events including an offsite dot painting workshop, as well as a lunch and a BBQ dinner on the beautiful grassed area at the resort.

The AWCI ANZ Awards of Excellence Gala Dinner is a fantastic event, and caps off the entire conference program. The AWCI ANZ Trans-Tasman Awards of Excellence recognises and raises the profile of leaders in the wall and ceiling industry. Project winners from State and New Zealand local awards programs are nominated for the Trans-Tasman Awards and presented at the Gala Dinner on the final evening of the Conference.
